Despite a drop in single-family housing development, Sioux Falls is on track for a solid year in business and institutional construction. One or two more big projects could make 2008 an exceptional year, at least in nonresidential construction. “I think it’s going to be a really good year, but we’ve had two record years. We’re not going to have a third record year,” said Jeffrey Schmitt, the city’s assistant director of planning and building services. Judging from the number of acres being platted for development, the stage also is being set for a lot of future construction, Schmitt said. |
